Bye bye Mystic, I will miss you....

the auction took place in the shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown on October 19. It was a wonderful and beautiful night of high energy and excitement. Attached below is a link to a short blurb on the auction by Michael Donohue from the Commercial Appeal. Just below that is info on what the horses went for. The horses have migrated for the fall. They have currently moved to the Saddle Creek area by Ya Ya's.

This is an invitation only auction
and tickets are on sale now, $100. per person.
I also found out that

the posters of all 21 horses

are being sold for $10.

at The Great Frame Up,

Of course all profit will go to G.C.H.S.

GCHS

open was Tuesday night. What a great presentation of all the horses. Thank you to GCHS for allowing us to express our vision's. Thank you Fulmer Farms for choosing my design. I really enjoyed painting "Mystic Pastures", (shown above). I had a wonderful time at the opening reception, Tuesday evening. Below are a few photos of other horses.

In The Beginning....

like I stated earlier, I just received "Mystic Pastures" Tuesday, May 21. I began the day with a good bath, touch up & primer. On the 2nd day I started with the "Metal Effects" as a base coat.

On the third day I began another coat of "Metal Effects" with a little help from my friends, Thomas (at the ripening age of 4),

Carol (Princess of "The Seabrook Wallpaper Department"),

and Gary of course
(aka; Larry, Jerry and sometimes Greg).

After the "Metal Effects was applied, a good coat of patina acid was sprayed on.

After the acid coat, we waited & waited & . . . . . . . . Wa-La!

A painted patina-ed horse was created. My next step was to apply a top coat to stop the ageing process. Once this cured the design was sketched on, then glue was applied for gold leafing. Since gold leafing is a time consuming technique, it took several days to complete. Thanks to all those who assisted,

Buddy (King of paint - his agent didn't allow photos)
& Gary of course of course.
After the leafing was completed, I then began detailing the mane, hooves and tail. Almost 2 weeks later, at last, the final touch, the UV top coat. Hurray!

"Mystic Pastures" is now ready to trot off into his excellent adventure.......

Special thoughts go out to the "Gold Leafing" Master, Nancy, who was unable to take part in this spectacular endeavour because of her extended stay in Fiji.

Hi, my name is Miranda and I'm an Artoholic.
I find it hard to turn down anything that is artistically creative.

What can I say, I love art.
A couple of months ago I learned of an opportunity to submit some ideas for the GCHS
"The Horses are Coming". I find this out only a couple of days before the deadline. So what do I do, I create & I submit. Not hearing anything for two months, I was then called (two weeks before dead line) and was told that I was chosen to paint one of the horses. Of course I said yes. I was so excited!!! There's nothing like waiting until the last minute..... the story of my life! I think it was meant to be. I do better when I'm pushed with a short deadline. and yes he's a boy and his name is "Mystic Pastures". Life size fiber glass horse that is currently being worked on at Seabrook in Germantown. With a little help from my friends, he should be ready for the show by this weekend.
